Seven Spiritual Principles for 2012
Realize that God has perfect love for you.
God has perfect love for you. He cares about you and every aspect of your life. God wants to bless you and provide for you, more than you could ever imagine. When you understand the love that God has for you, it will remove fear. The Scripture says in 1 John 4:18 “We need have no fear of someone who loves us perfectly; his perfect love for us eliminates all dread of what he might do to us. If we are afraid, it is for fear of what he might do to us, and shows that we are not fully convinced that he really loves us.” Sometimes, we think that God wants something bad or wrong for us, but it far from the truth. God loves you and me and He wants us to prosper and be in good health. 3 John 2 says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou may prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.”
1.Be a channel through which God’s love constantly flows.
If you are a Christian, you have the supernatural love of God in your heart. You can love any and everybody. It makes no difference about their background, skin color, gender, or economic standings; God has given you the ability to love them. Romans 5:5 says, “And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” Mother Teresa said “I'm a little pencil in the hand of a writing God, who is sending a love letter to the world.”
2. Make the best use of your time today.
You cannot go back and live out yesterday, but you can make positive changes today. Make the best us of the opportunities that you have today. Live closer to God today. Love your wife/husband more today. Don’t make rash decisions today. Take time for the kids today. Start back going to church and growing as a Christian today. You can make wise choices today and build a better tomorrow. Ephesians 5:15-16 says “Be careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Redeem the times because the days are evil.
3. Let the past go.
You can do nothing about what happened yesterday, good or bad. If you sinned against God, the Bible says in 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” The moment that you pray and ask God to forgive you, you are cleansed from your sin and forgiven. God will never hold it against you. He forgives us by His grace through our Lord Jesus Christ.
4. Don’t hold on to false guilt
The moment that you pray and ask for forgiveness, whatever trespass that you have committed is gone forever. You don’t have to walk around feeling guilty any longer. It makes no difference what you have done; your sin is pardoned by God. The key is to know Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord and any sin that you commit as a Christian, you can receive forgiveness through Him. Once you pray for forgiveness there is nothing spiritual about walking around with false guilt. When God forgives you, you need to learn to forgive yourself. God does not want you feeling guilty any longer, after you have confessed and have been cleansed from your sin.
5. Put God first.
If you learn to put God first; you will receive supernatural provisions from God for all your needs. Matthew 6:33 says “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given unto you as well.” If you have the right priorities to please God, then all the blessings that you need will be given unto you. God will provide for you and take care of you. You will have the blessed assurance that all your needs will be met.
6. Give yourself to God completely.
Many people offer up words of praise and worship to God, but words alone is no indication of true dedication, if you are not committed to God, it is only lip service. It’s easy to talk a good talk, but what about walking a good walk? Let the tongue in your mouth agree with the tongue in your shoes. In other words, live what you preach. Talk the talk but don’t forget to walk the walk. Romans 12:1 says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — this is your spiritual act of worship.”
The new-year is a new opportunity for you and me to please God and love our families, friends, neighbors, and others. Your very life can be a witness to the faithfulness of God. Trust in the Lord and be sure that you know Him as your Savior and Lord. Dedicate yourself to Him and He will provide for your needs. This year, can be your best year, if you love Him and do His will.
