Blue Star Museums
Through a partnership with Blue Star Families, the National Endowment of the Arts, and participating museums military families can visit over 850 museums nationwide free of charge through Labor Day, Monday. FMWR Outdoor Events
The Fort Gordon Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation is hosting several outdoor recreation events in September. One of the events is windsurfing class, Sept. 12, $100 per person, registration closes Monday. A minimum participation is required for the scheduled trips to take place. Town Hall Forums
The U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Gordon, will host two Town Hall Forums Thursday at Alexander Hall. This is a great opportunity for community members to gain insight to new and enhanced services, and interact with the Garrison’s senior leadership and related service providers.

Golf for Soldiers
Active duty servicemembers and their families are invited to Gordon Lakes Golf Club every Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon for free instruction and use of the driving range. The program will run until Sept. 30. All skill levels are welcome. For more information, call the clubhouse at 791-2433.

EFMP Family Find Campaign
In accordance with Army Regulation 608-75, enrollment in the Exceptional Family Member Program must be updated every three years by the servicemembers or a family member. A DD Form 2792, Exceptional Family Member Medical Summary, must be completed by the primary care provider. The forms can be downloaded on Google or EFMP forms. Once the form has been completed contact the Family Medical Clinic to update your enrollment. For more information, contact Pat Lowe at 787-9300.
PMOC meeting
The Protestant Men of the Chapel meets 5:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at the Religious Support Office, Building 29601, on Barnes Avenue. All men are welcome to attend. All active duty, Reserve, National Guard, Marines, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, Department of Defense civilians, retired, contractors, and local community are welcome to join PMOC. Smoking cessation
The Health and Wellness Center will be conducting new one-hour lunchtime Tobacco Cessation classes in addition to the four-hour classes offered. PWOC meeting
Protestant Women of the Chapel meet at the Bicentennial Chapel on post 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings and 9:30 a.m. Thursday mornings. PWOC is open to all women in the Fort Gordon community. This includes all active female military Soldiers, and female spouses of active or retired Soldiers.
JAG seeks officers
The Office of The Judge Advocate General is accepting applications for the Army’s Funded Legal Education Program. The Army plans to send up to 25 active duty commissioned officers to law school at government expense. Selected officers will attend law school beginning the Fall of 2011 and will remain on active duty while attending law school. Interested officers should review Chapter 14, AR 27-1 to determine their eligibility. The program is open to commissioned officers in the rank of second lieutenant through captain. Applicants must have at least two but not more than six years of total active federal service at the time legal training begins. Eligibility is governed by statute (10 U.S.C. 2004) and is non-waivable. Eligible officers interested in applying should immediately register for the earliest offering of the Law School Admission Test. Applicants must send their request through command channels, to include the officer’s branch manager at Army Human Resources Command (AHRC), with a copy furnished to the Office of The Judge Advocate General, ATTN: DAJA-PT (Ms. Yvonne Caron-10th Floor), 1777 North Kent Street, Rosslyn, Va., 22209-2194, to be received before Nov. 1 2010. Submission of the application well in advance
of the deadline is advised.

Civilian Health Promotion Program
The Civilian Health Promotion Program is a CPOC governed program which has existed at Fort Gordon for the past 12 years. Army Regulation 600-63 allows Department of Defense civilians three hours of administrative leave per week to give them the opportunity to participate in a health and fitness program. This nine week structured health education and fitness activities program is offered to DoD civilians three times a year. The goal of this program is to “jump start civilians into living a healthier lifestyle”. In order to participate DoD civilians must obtain written permission and agreement from their supervisor and approval from their health care provider. Program participants meet from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Fitness activities are held at the Fort Gordon Fitness Center, Building 29607, on Barnes Avenue and education classes are held at the Health and Wellness Center, Building 29605.The next CHPP session starts Sept. 14. Enrollment is limited to the first 25 individuals who complete the enrollment process. For more information and/or to sign up for the program contact the Health and Wellness center at ext 787.6756.
Directorate League Softball
The Fort Gordon Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation is sponsoring the Directorate League Softball events. It’s open to all active duty military, retirees, Department of the Army and Department of Defense Civilians, and their family members that are 18 years old and older.
