Around Town
Musical Theatre Workshops will present a dessert theater at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1 at Church of the Most Holy Trinity’s St. Patrick’s Hall on Telfair Street in downtown Augusta.
The show will feature “scenes and songs about growing up” performed by area youth and dessert, according to director Mickey Lubeck.
The family friendly event will last about 90 minutes and is the culmination of work at Lubeck’s theater studio.
Music will also be in the air at the Bell Auditorium on July 30 for the Third Annual CSRA Jazz Fest.
Critically acclaimed jazz musicians, Norman Brown, Alex Bugnon, Phil Perry and Eric Darius will be in concert beginning at 8 p.m.
Tickets are available at the door or by calling (888) 428-4849.
More jazz will be on tap for Sunday evening for the Riverwalk Candlelight Jazz Concert Series. The season is scheduled to end in August, but organizer Karen Gordon said many people are interested in seeing it continue through September or October.
The Mike Frost Trio will perform this week.
The concert begins at 8 p.m.; rain or shine.
