Fort Gordon’s Group Quarters enumeration is scheduled to take place during the period April 1 to May 14. The purpose of the GQ enumeration is to account for all personnel living in GQ (barracks, disciplinary barracks/ jail, etc.) on the installation for the 2010 census.

All personnel residing in GQ will receive their census forms directly from trained GQ POCs. GQ points of contact will ensure a form is completed for all GQ residents that are on leave, temporary duty, deployed, etc.

Personnel residing in government housing units will receive their questionnaires in the mail by March 25; and they must return them in the pre-paid envelope provided.

Housing residents not in receipt of a questionnaire by March 26 can visit the Questionnaire Assistance Center for assistance. The QAC is located at the Balfour Beatty Communities Management Office, 155 3rd Ave, Fort Gordon. They can assist housing respondents in answering questions reference the census questionnaires; and are scheduled for operation from March 19 through April 19. Their hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Census workers (wearing orange CENSUS vest) will be escorted to each housing unit (door-to-door), for which no response was received, to conduct personal interviews May 1 - Jul 10).

Enumeration of transitory locations (RV parks, temporary lodging facilities/hotels or guest/visitors quarters, and campground) will be conducted March 19 - April 16.

It is important to collect accurate information during this enumeration because data collected is used to (1) determine how many seats in the US House of Representatives each state will have, (2) allocate federal funds, (3) track changes in the population and (4) measure changes and trends in society. Additionally, collected data is used to identify the need and location for schools, health care services and facilities, housing and community development, etc.
