The U.S. Army 21st Signal Brigade Command said farewell to Command Sergeant Major Willie C. Clemmons, right, of the 302nd Signal Battalion, Feb. 19, during a relinquishment of command ceremony. Present at the ceremony were distinguished and honored guests to include the 21st Signal Brigade Commander Col. Karl Ginter, Brigade Command Sergeant Major Nicolino Parisi, 302nd Signal Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Douglas Orsi, family members, and friends of the Fort Detrick community. “I was excited from the first phone call I received informing me of my assignment to this outstanding unit,” said Clemmons. “The thought of being responsible for five companies all geographically dispersed across our great nation brought a smile to my face as large as the sun is bright.” The mission of the 302nd Signal Battalion is to provide support and defend battle command capabilities for the President of the United States, Secretary of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, warfighting combatant commanders, all the Armed Services, and other federal agencies. “Our mission spans from the Soldiers in the foxhole, the Sailors on the ship, Airmen in the air, and the Marines in the fight from CONUS to OCONUS,” said Clemmons.
