The Service Member of the 1st Quarter for fiscal year 2010 is Specialist Shea Christensen, who is assigned to 706th Military Intelligence Group as a signal collector and analyst. He joined the Army in 2008 because he has a great sense of pride for his country and fellow service members. Christensen goes above and beyond his duties, setting a good example for his peers. He always takes the initiative in the absence of senior leadership, and has earned the respect of his peers and NCOs alike. The Civilian of the first quarter for fiscal year 2010 is Gary Melton, who is assigned to Directorate of Emergency Services as a vehicle registration clerk. Melton exemplifies the highest qualities of dedication and selfless service of a Department of the Army civilian. He is mission oriented, supportive, and loyal to the installation and Directorate. His years of experience have only intensified his work ethic and talents. He has the interest of the Army and its Soldiers at heart and this is his driving force as he approaches work each day. His sincere concern, untiring efforts, and leadership he displays each day contribute greatly to the smooth operation of the Directorate of Emergency Services and his department. The Instructor of the first quarter for fiscal year 2010 is Sgt. 1st Class Thomas Kupsh, who is assigned to Headquarters and Alpha Company, 4-42nd Signal Battalion as an Instructor/ writer for the School of Information Technology. He constantly scrutinizes the curriculum to find new and creative ways to teach effectively. He has successfully trained over 900 students in various Wide Area Network technologies over the last year. Kupsh is also the president for the Fort Gordon Chapter of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and volunteers at several community projects like the Master’s Table Soup Kitchen and the Champions Made from Adversity events. Kupsh also helps other units form successful study groups. He has earned 12 semester hours in the last four months towards his bachelor’s degree in Information Assurance. The Noncommissioned Officer of the 1st Quarter for fiscal year 2010 is Sgt. 1st Class Miles Kaufenberg who is assigned to Regimental Noncommissioned Officer Academy as a Small Group Leader. Kaufenberg is always volunteering to take on tough tasks which lead to excellent results. He leads from the front with his professionalism and military bearing which is beyond reproach. The Volunteer of the first quarter for fiscal year 2010 is Nicole Presby who volunteers with the family readiness group for the 369th Signal Battalion. She has contributed over 151 hours in the last 3 months to organizations and activities such as CSRA Scholastic Warehouse, Christmas House, 369th Signal Battalion Block Leave and as the 369th Signal Battalion FRG leader. Presby has redefined and refreshed our memories on what it means to give and has used her volunteer talents to create lasting memories for the Soldiers, their families, and the CSRA community.
