Shooters won turkeys, hams and bacon
About 70 shooters turned out for the Fort Gordon Outdoor Recreation program’s turkey shoot held from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at Range 14. The event was scheduled to continue to 5 p.m., but most of the shooters showed before 3 p.m.
According to Audrey Landrum, the Fort Gordon Sportsman’s Club facility operator, seven courses of firing were set up with 10 shooters per course trying to get closest to the center of X on the target.
Targets were set up 40 feet away.
Cost per shooter was $3 a round/course. Two hundred and ten dollars was raised at the event with proceeds to be used as range fees.
Winners of the 12 pound frozen turkeys were Jerry Wade, Michael Burdette, and David West. Ron Kazen won two turkeys. Wes Thompson and Larry Slover won 5-pound hams and Daniel Emmos took home 3 pounds of bacon.
