Fort Gordon announces, honors Fourth Quarter award winners

Staff Sgt. Djoulou Caldwell Staff Sgt. Djoulou Caldwell Noncommissioned Officer of the 4th Quarter, FY09

Staff Sgt. Djoulou Caldwell Company E, 369th Signal Battalion

The Noncommissioned Officer of the 4th Quarter, Fiscal Year 2009, is Staff Sgt. Djoulou Caldwell, who is assigned to Company E, 369th Signal Battalion as an advanced individual training platoon sergeant. He accomplishes his personal mission which is to make sure that he receives his Soldiers from basic training, houses, mentors, protects and teaches them what the standard looks like and how to exceed it. He is also known for his outstanding physical fitness, and dedication to provide it to his platoon. His creativity strikes again by providing competition, incentive, and bragging rights; as he created a “Wall of Fame” in the bays, dedicated to those that meet his “exceed the standard mentality,” as he leads by example by scoring 300+ on numerous Army Physical Fitness Tests.

Sgt. 1st Class Marvin Cole Company D, 447th Signal Battalion

The Instructor of the 4th Quarter for Fiscal Year 2009 is Sgt. First Class Marvin Cole, who is assigned to Company D, 447th Signal Battalion as an information operator-analyst senior instructor.

Cole stands out as a true leader, a positive role model for his Soldiers to emulate, and a stellar noncommissioned officer who has charisma and a personality that inspires the personnel that he interacts with on a daily basis.

Cole has volunteered with several groups to include the Youth Challenge Academy as a mentor, academic tutoring with young teenagers, and planting flower beds and making sandpits for local elementary schools. He also provides musical, audio, video and information technology support for an elderly day care and retirement home which enhances the morale of the residence living in the home.

Terri Lucas Terri Lucas Civilian of the 4th Quarter, FY09

Terri Lucas Directorate of Contracting

The Civilian of the 4th Quarter for Fiscal Year 2009 is Terri Lucas who is assigned to the Directorate of Contracting as the Deputy Director of Contracting and Army Small Business Specialist.

Lucas has displayed outstanding qualities in duty performance, attitude, and courtesy. Lucas brings a positive “can-do” attitude to the most daunting of challenges.

Her professional appearance, selfconfidence, hard work ethic, and enthusiasm are both inspiring and infectious to her subordinates.

Airman 1st Class Roman Norris Airman 1st Class Roman Norris As the designated Small Business Advocate, she ensured that many challenging socio-economic goals were met, including contract awards to Service Disabled Veterans Owned Businesses, Women Owned Businesses and Small Disadvantaged Businesses.

Airman 1st Class Roman Norris 31st Intelligence Squadron

The Service Member of the 4th Quarter, Fiscal Year 2009, is Airman 1st Class Roman Norris assigned to the 31st Intelligence Squadron as a network analyst.

He operates and trains others to operate data processing equipment and software that is essential to provide threat warnings to forward-deployed military forces. He founded the 31st Intelligence Squadron’s first Rising 4 organization and serves as the president which entails being a liaison for E-1 to E-4s with the unit commander. He serves as a Victim Advocate who provides an outlet for reporting abuse while maintaining the privacy of the victim. He also qualified as an associate director of Education and Training Adjunct instructor.

Capt. Michael Lind Capt. Michael Lind Volunteer of the 4th Quarter, FY09

Capt. Michael Lind Company C, 73rd Ordnance Battalion

The Volunteer of the 4th Quarter for Fiscal Year 2009 is Capt. Michael Lind who is assigned to Charlie Company, 73rd Ordnance Battalion as the Company Commander.

Lind has volunteered over 200 hours since the beginning of this year with such organizations as Champions Made from Adversity, Four Coursemen Dinner Group, 73d Ordnance Battalion Family Readiness Group, Augusta Bulldogs Wheelchair Basketball Team and many more.

He also volunteered to be the officer in-charge for over 80 Soldiers from the brigade to help the CMFA put on their “Adaptive Water Skiing Clinic” which allowed disabled children and adults the opportunity to participate in water skiing, tubing and boat rides, some for the first time in their lives.
