If you like carnival rides and funnel cakes, then you will love October and November in the Augusta area as fair season is in full swing.
The 87th annual Georgia-Carolina State Fair winds down this weekend at the fairgrounds on Fourth Street in Augusta.
In addition to midway games and carnival rides with the James E. Strates Shows, the Georgia-Carolina State Fair features exhibits in livestock, art and photography.
The fair will be open at noon Oct. 24, and 25.

As the Georgia-Carolina State Fair is winding down, the Western Carolina State Fair in Aiken is just kicking off. It opened Oct. 22 at the fairgrounds in Aiken.
Special events include a nightly motorcycle stunt show at 6 and 8 p.m., a nightly magic show and a demolition derby at 7 p.m., Oct. 28, 29 and 31.
Gates open at 5 p.m. on weekdays and at noon on weekends through Oct. 31.

After the first two fairs close, the Columbia County Fair will gear up for its run Nov. 5-14 at the Columbia County Fairgrounds on Columbia Road.
