Fort Gordon Army Family Action Plan Issue Update The Army Family Action Plan is an Army-wide program with the mission of improving Army Quality of Life. Through AFAP, all members of the Army, Soldiers (Active, Reserve, National Guard), Family Members, retirees, surviving spouses and DA Civilians have a forum to raise issues and voice concerns to Army Leadership. The community is given the opportunity to influence Army quality of life and standard of living. During the 2009 Fort Gordon annual AFAP Conference held in February, recycling ranked as one of the top issues of the 87 delegates. The issue submitted into the AFAP conference stated that the current recycling facility on Fort Gordon only accepts paper, magazines, cardboard and aluminum and does not support a housing curbside recycling pick-up. Unfortunately, due to the costs involved it is not economically feasible to expand the recycling center’s commodities and establish a housing curbside pick-up at this time. The table (at right), provided by Lt.Col. Bernadette Hanley,Fort Gordon inspector general gives alternate recycling locations and the commodities that are accepted at each location. The complete issue update book is available at the ACS website, www.gordon.army.mil/acs. Issues for the next Fort Gordon AFAP conference can be submitted via the ACS website. |
