Dig for historic treasures
Around Town
      Children can become archaeologists for the day at Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site on Saturday, Sept. 19. The annual Archaeology Day program will allow children to sift through artifacts and clean and identify them. Children can learn more about local archaeological digs from archaeologists with the Savannah River Archaeological Research Program.

      It's a show that often comes up in conversations among theater aficionados. "It's a funny show. It's won lots of awards. Whenever I'm around those who know about theater, if the question is asked about the funniest show you've been in or seen, the answer is often The Foreigner," said Steve Walpert, who is directing the play at the Fort Gordon Dinner Theater.

Preserving history
      The Augusta Museum of History, located at 560 Reynolds St. in downtown Augusta, is offering a special program from 1 to 2 p.m. every Saturday in September to allow patrons to view how the museum staff collect, catalog, preserve, study, care for and display artifacts and archives for the museum. It's limited to the first 15 participants each session.
