Kelly Barchanowicz wants deployed service members to experience Christmas in July.

The Balfour Beatty Communities LifeWorks coordinator is currently collecting items to be placed in care packages and sent overseas.

"I'm looking for non-perishable snacks, cookies, candy - nothing that would melt, Starbursts, jelly beans, sunscreen, magazines and books," she said.

Baby wipes, deodorant and toothpaste are also on the list.

One thing she'd really like to place in each of the boxes is a card with a handwritten note.

"We're looking for people to say 'thank you for all you do,'" she said.

Barchanowicz's deadline for donations is July 10. Some items will be decorated with Christmas paper to go along with the theme.

Barchanowicz plans to pack about 50 boxes this time. She is also looking ahead to the Christmas season and planning to send out more boxes then.
