$6.3 million Child Development Center contract awarded
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District awarded a $6.3 million contract to Lifecycle Construction Services, LLC of Washington, D.C. on June 25 for the construction of a Child Development Center at Fort Gordon.
The contract includes construction of a standard design Child Development Center and playground to support a full range of day care, after care and other associated age 0-5 child support programs.
The work will include playgrounds, a canopy over the sidewalk between the facility and bus drop-off, parking lot, sidewalks and site preparation for a surveillance camera system.
In addition, the contract includes all necessary utilities such as electrical, natural gas, water and sewer, air conditioning, grading and storm water management structures, telecommunications support, fire and safety alarm systems and anti-terrorism and force protection measures as appropriate.
Like all Army construction projects, the Child Development Center has been designed to achieve a minimum Silver rating from the Leadership in energy and Environmental Design rating system, in accordance with the U.S. Green Building Council.
