Christmas in July care packages
      Kelly Barchanowicz wants deployed service members to experience Christmas in July. The Balfour Beatty Communities LifeWorks coordinator is currently collecting items to be placed in care packages and sent overseas. "I'm looking for non-perishable snacks, cookies, candy - nothing that would melt, Starbursts, jelly beans, sunscreen, magazines and books," she said.

Civil Air Patrol 2009 encampment
      Two hundred sixteen Civil Air Patrol members from Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Nebraska participated in training at Fort Gordon June 22-28. Under U.S. Air Force and adult CAP leadership, two schools of instruction were conducted simultaneously -- the annual basic encampment and a specialized Regimental Noncommissioned Officer Academy program.
