Acura of Augusta, in cooperation with the Augusta- Richmond County Commissioners' Office, is organizing a clean-up project for Gordon Highway June 27.
This is a communitywide effort to help bring consumers back to the Gordon Highway and maintain it as a beautiful place to work and live.
Rick Brady, dealer manager of Acura of Augusta, has contacted many Gordon Highway businesses and requested their help and participation.
The response has been tremendous. Brady said that Acura of Augusta is proud to partner with their business neighbors in an effort to continue the pride and progress of Gordon Highway.
"Gordon Highway is one of Augusta's main thoroughfares and enjoys a rich history," he said.
"We want it to look its best all the time. With the addition of the community's help and support, we can make that happen."
Ron Sherman, Director of the Augusta Richmond County License and Inspection Business License Division, has been working very diligently in this effort to clean up the Gordon Highway.
"Significant progress has been made and we are very proud of this project," he said.
Volunteers should meet at the Southgate Shopping Center on Gordon Highway at 6:30 a.m. June 27. Teams will be organized and each will be given a section of Gordon Highway to clean up. Coffee and donuts will be available. Orange vests and trash bags will be provided by the Commissioners' office.
Representatives from the Mayor's office, Commissioners' office, Sheriff's office and the local media will be on hand for support. For more information call Rick Brady at Acura of Augusta at (706) 737-5200.
