SCRA Spring Challenge

The 17th Annual Signal Corps Regimental Association Spring Challenge 2009 is slated for May 16 at Fort Gordon.

The Kids One Mile Run/ Walk kicks off at 7:30 a.m.; the individual 10K Run/Walk begins at 8 a.m. Starting point is at Building 24402 on 25th and Lane Avenue.

The entry fee for the Kids Fun Run/Walk is $10 per child; individuals entering the 10K challenge pay $25. Make checks payable to the Signal Corps Regimental Association.

The first 200 registrants receive a T-shirt. Gift certificates will be awarded to the Men's and Women's Overall Winners and the top two finishers in each category receive a trophy. Every child will receive a medal.

Outdoor Recreation

Tactical Advantage Sportsman's Complex, located near Range 14 on post, is hosting a bass tournament from daylight until noon May 17 at the Butler Reservoir on Fort Gordon.

Tactical Advantage Sportsman's Complex is open from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays for recreational shooting. The range is open for zeroing firearms, sport shooting, pistol, rifle and black powder shooting. The cost for shooting is $9 per person. Fort Gordon Service Club members shoot for $4, and youth under the age of 16 shoot for $2.

Pizza Bowl

Gordon Lanes will host a Pizza Bowl 5 to 9 p.m.

May 16. The price is $5 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under. It includes three games of bowling, shoe rental, two slices of pizza and soda. Pizza will be provided by Papa John's.

Motorcycle Safety Day

The 2nd Annual Motorcycle Safety Day is May 21 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held at the Safety Training Center located in Building 11307 at the corner of Lane Ave. and 12th St. The day will include a program update, hands-on range exercises, motorcycle inspections, a spring thunder ride and safety displays. There will also be door prizes given out.
