Patriots topple DDEAMC in play-off finals

The 551st Signal Battalion, also known as the "Patriots," took the first place trophy home after defeating the post hospital in the 2009 Battalion Basketball Championship final playoff game held April 29 at Gym 5.
They defeated Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center by a 14 point spread. Patriots won the game 52 - 38.
DDEAMC placed second in the championship playoffs and 447th Signal Battalion, also known as the "Centurions," earned third place after they were defeated by DDEAMC April 28. Final score was DDEAMC, 41, and Centurions, 38.
Jeremiah Sola, #35, the Patriots' leading scorer during the final playoff game tallied up 20 points for the team. Preston Baker, #41, shot two 2 pointers in the first half of the game and came back to earn 5 more points for the team in the second half.
Terry Geen, #34, shot a 2 pointer and a successful free throw in the first half and then a 2 pointer in the second half for the Patriots. Evert Herriott, #5, shot two 2 pointers in the first half and a 2 pointer in the second half.
Patriot's Preston Baker, #41, waited until the second half to score a 2 pointer. Bryceton Adams, #10, scored two 2 pointers in the first half. Then in the second half he scored a 2 pointer and then a 3 pointer.
Antonio Green, #42, earned the team 2 points in free throws in the second half. Patriots' Jester Foster, #22, earned eight points during the game.
The DDEAMC team made a gallant effort to steal the championship. The team led for the first 15 minutes of the first half of the game. Throughout the game the Patriots often led by a one point margin.
Both teams tied the game up three times in the first half and then again two minutes in the second half.
DDEAMC's team coach, Charles Lewis, #2, accumulated 20 points in the game, making him the leading scorer. Charles Eatmon, #6, made his presence known in the second half after shooting two 2 pointers. Corey Puckett, #41, shot a 3 pointer in the first half then a 2 pointer in the second portion of the game.
Donald Forte, #34, earned four points during the game. Gerald Merryweather, #35, shot two 2 pointers in the first half and one successful free throw in the second half.
Harold Weaver, Ron Satterfield, and Charles Withers refereed the final playoff game. Janian Davis kept the running score and was also the official timekeeper.
