Abilene Baptist Church will sponsor a military appreciation night 7 p.m.

May 18 at 3917 Washington Road, Martinez, Ga.

The program will feature the story of Bobby Welch, a former Special Forces Soldier. As a recon platoon leader in Vietnam he was shot and given up for dead. Welch will share his story with the audience and there will be a special recognition of veterans and those presently serving in the Armed Forces.
