Second Thunder Over Augusta set
      The second annual Central Savannah River Area Armed Forces Day celebration called "Thunder Over Augusta" will be 11 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. May 16, at the Augusta Common. The opening ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Augusta Common and will include the U.S. Army Signal Corps Band, and Jaycie Ward singing the national anthem.

Area students learn the Army way
      The fifth grade students from Cedar Ridge Elementary school were treated to a first-hand expo on Army training when they visited Fort Gordon May 12. While on post, the 125 visiting students and teachers saw demonstrations on various Army field activities including hand-to-hand combat, rope crossing, base operations and radio communications.

      About two years ago, an actress broke her collarbone in a fall during a rehearsal at the Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre. Fortunately for her, the civilian actress was registered in the Volunteer Management Information System and was entitled to have her medical benefits reimbursed.
