Army Emergency Relief fund drive

The Army Community Service kicked off the post's Army Emergency Relief Fund Drive March 1. It will run through May 15. The goal is to raise $200,000. AER is a private nonprofit organization incorporated in 1942 by the Secretary of War and the Army Chief of Staff. AER's sole mission is to help Soldiers and their Families.

AER is the Army's own emergency financial assistance organization and is dedicated to "Helping the Army Take Care of Its Own." AER provides commanders a valuable asset in accomplishing their basic command responsibility for the morale and welfare of Soldiers.

AER are funds made available to commanders to provide emergency financial assistance to active duty Soldiers and their Family members when there is a valid need. Retired Soldiers can also apply by going to ACS in Room 172 at Darling Hall.

Women's History Month

Each year the month of March is set aside to recognize the many accomplishments and contributions of women. The Installation Command Program will be held 1:30 p.m. March 23 in Alexander Hall. The guest speaker will be Brig. Gen. Jennifer Napper, 7th Signal Command (Theater) commanding general.

Mandatory drug prevention training

All Fort Gordon civilian employees are required to attend the annual Alcohol and Drug Abuse prevention education training.

The training will be held for employees 9 to 11 a.m. April 28 in Alexander Hall. Supervisors will attend in the afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m.

A make-up day will be held for employees 9 to 11 a.m. on May 27 and for supervisors that afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m.

Two hours of education training is mandatory for all Department of the Army civilian employees in accordance with AR 600-85, para 2-20g and is supported by the Army's commitment to provide a Drug Free Workplace.

Individual directorates are required to track and report attendance for their employees to the Fort Gordon Army Substance Abuse Program. Attendance at this training by employees will complete this year's training requirement.
