Audriana Llinas, a Greenbrier High School senior and Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training cadet, organized a 5K run recently to raise money for the Warrior Transition Battalion and Fort Gordon's Fisher House as part of her senior project. More than 700 people showed up for the event that was held on the track around Barton Field Jan 31. More ... Soldiers from the 551st Signal Battalion underwent Patriot Challenge III as part of the Battalion's effort to build esprit de corps and unit cohesion among members of its organization. Every quarter during holiday weekends, the battalion members gather to participate in these challenges. Events include litter carries, four Soldier Army Physical Fitness Test, ultimate football and basketball, volleyball, tug-o-war, crawling derby, and drill and ceremony competitions. Not only are Soldiers tested on their physical fitness endurance but also on their combat skills. Patriot Challenge IV will be conducted during the Memorial Day weekend. Patriots, Watch and Warn. Badges will be purchased by the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation and resold at $50 per day.
