Flag football, cheerleading

Registration is going on now and continues until

Feb. 25 for the U.S. Army Child, Youth and School Services spring flag football and cheerleading programs. Youngsters age 5- 18 can participate. The program is open to active duty, retired, Department of Defense civilian, contractors and reservists dependents. Competitions begin in early April.

A sports physical is required of all participants.

After School Bowling Club

Gordon Lanes and the U.S. Army Child, Youth and School Services Youth Sports are hosting the After School Bowling Club at Gordon Lanes Bowling Center, Building 33200, on Third Avenue on post. It starts March 9. Club members will bowl once a week starting at 5 p.m. on Mondays for 10 weeks. It's open to children from 6 to 17 years old who are CYSS registered. Each team is made up of three bowlers. Space is limited.

Rose Bowl/Pizza Bowl

Gordon Bowling Lanes is hosting Rose Bowl from 1 to 6 p.m. Feb. 14. All ladies who bowl will receive a rose. The bowling center will also be hosting Pizza Bowl from 5 to 10 p.m.Feb. 21. Cost is $5 and includes: two hours of bowling, pizza and soda.

Valentine's Day Trail Rides

The Fort Gordon Hilltop Riding Stables, Building 509, located at North Range Road at 16th Avenue is hosting Valentine's Day Trail Rides

Feb. 14. The two hour trail rides begin at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Arrival time is 30 minutes prior to the designated trail ride. Closed toe shoes are required. Cost is $55 per person which includes a photograph of you and your horse. Reservations are recommended, but spots are available for first come, first serve on Valentine's Day. The event is open to the public.

Karate classes

U.S. Army Child, Youth and School Services and Schools of Knowledge, Inspiration, Explorations and Skills are co-hosting karate classes for youths age 5 to 18. Classes are held from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Building 28230, Central Registration, located at Lane Avenue near the post car wash. Cost is $45 per child. Dale Simmons, a 4th Degree Master instructor/Black Belt, is the course instructor.
