Tax Center

The Fort Gordon Tax Center is now open for business at The Courtyard Tuesday through Saturday. Hours of operation are: Tuesday and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday noon to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Walk-in service is available.

Sweetheart Ball

The U.S. Army Signal Center and Fort Gordon Sergeants Major Association are hosting the 2009 Sweetheart Ball Feb. 14 in the north wing of the Gordon Club. Social hour begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person. Make checks payable to Fort Gordon Sergeants Major Association.

Survivor Outreach Services Forum

A Survivor Outreach Services Forum will be held 10 a.m. to noon Feb.19 in Darling Hall, Building 33720, Room 229A.

The Survivor Outreach Services is a new initiative of the Department of the Army to better understand the concerns and experiences of Families of Fallen Soldiers. Fort Gordon's Army Community Service will conduct focus groups to capture those concerns and experiences to improve service delivery. The forum is open to survivors of active duty, National Guard and Reserves, and retirees.

National Prayer Breakfast

Chaplain (Col.) Samuel Boone, U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School commandant, Fort Jackson, S.C., will speak at Fort Gordon's National Prayer Breakfast meeting, 6:30 a.m. Feb. 24 at the Gordon Club on 19th Street.

Tickets are available from all chaplains on post or the Religious Support Office.

Arbor Day observance

Fort Gordon will celebrate Arbor Day with a tree planting 11 a.m. Feb. 20, in Heritage Park, at the intersection of Rice Rd. and Lane Ave.

Two redbud trees will be planted by Col. John Holwick, garrison commander, and Kathy Black from the Georgia Forestry Commission.

This is the 16th year that Fort Gordon has been designated a Tree City USA.
