"We were closed two weeks for Christmas, and people were delaying bringing pieces in," said Jessica Thompson, librarian.

The original deadline was Jan. 6.

All types of artwork including paintings, pottery and drawings are eligible for entry. There are three different age divisions 12 years-old and under, 13-17 years-old and 18 years-old and older. So far, all the entries received have been in the 18 and older division, she said.

"I'm hoping to get more artwork from children and teens," she said.

The art will be displayed through Jan. 27.

The works will be judged and prizes given to the winners.

"I thought the art work would make the library more aesthetically pleasing," she said. "And give people a reason to come to the library. A lot of changes have been made in the past few years."

A complete list of guidelines is available at www.gordon.army.mil/ dhr/library.

Also in January, the book club will start back up, but it will be held on a new night.

It will be at 7 p.m., Jan. 27. The Books from the Big Screen club focuses on books that have been made into film.

Daniel Wallace's Big Fish will be the focus of the January discussions.
