2008 Signal Conference schedule
Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Foley U.S. Army Chief of Signal More than 800 people are expected to attend the 2008 Fort Gordon Signal Conference from Dec. 2-5.
"I want to have an annual conference," said Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Foley, U.S. Signal Center and Fort Gordon commanding general. "I want to bring a conference to the home of the Signal Regiment."
With a theme of "Building the Team, Shaping the Future," the conference has several purposes. One major emphasis will be on the new Warfighter Information Network - Tactical.
Also, Foley wants to bring together the architecture community.
And future career opportunities with the Signal functional areas such as the FA-24, telecommunications systems engineering officer and FA-53, information systems management, will be on the discussion board.
Lt. Gen. William Caldwell, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, Kan. commanding general, will speak at the conference.
The event will bring together general officers, senior civilians and other senior military leaders. Also, there will be a special event including the community's retiree population.
"There has been an absence of that. We want to introduce them and update them on Signal Regiment training and how we are doing at Fort Gordon," he said.
Foley said this Signal Conference will not be a resurrection of the Signal Symposiums of the past.
"It will be a much reduced scope of size and mission," he said.
