From televisions and exercise equipment to diamond rings, Fort Gordon Service Club members have wrapped a variety of items at Christmas.

On Dec. 1, they will be wrapping items once again in the PX lobby, according to Joanie Bryant, fundraising committee member, and they open up the fundraising opportunity to others on post.

"This is our fourth year as a combined organization. It used to be a project of the Enlisted Wives Club," she said. "We set aside so many days for other organizations to wrap."

Any organization that is eligible to raise funds at Fort Gordon can apply for one of those time slots, she said.

In past years, organizations such as the Sergeants Major Association, the American Red Cross and numerous Family readiness groups have had their members wrap presents.

Bryant said some paperwork must be filled out and sent through the proper channels so she advises groups to contact her quickly.

"It's first come, first served," she said.

The PX has extended hours and late night sales, and Bryant said she hopes to have the wrapping booth staffed through those.

"We try to stay until midnight for the moonlight madness sale," she said. Gift wrapping is strictly by donation, she said. There are no set prices.

Not only is the fundraiser a monetary success, but members have reaped other benefits.

"It's great for the members to get involved. They get a chance to get to know each other. It helps the PX manager as well," she said.
