Fort Gordon supporting local Veterans Day events Military personnel from Fort Gordon will participate in CSRA Veterans Day activities, Nov. 6-12. Chief Warrant Officer Andrew Barr, the chief warrant officer of the U.S. Army Signal Center, will speak at the Korean War Veterans Center, Bath, S.C. at 2 p.m. on Nov. 8. A Joint Service Color Guard will participate in the ceremony at 10 a.m. Nov. 10. at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, on 15th Street, Col. John Dewey, capability manager for Tactical Radios at the U.S. Army Signal Center, will speak at 9 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta. Col. John Holwick, Fort Gordon garrison commander, will speak at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the American Legion Post 71, Wade Hampton Veterans Park on Georgia Ave., N. Augusta, S.C. Grand Marshal of the CSRA Veterans Day Parade down Broad St., 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Nov. 11, will be Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Foley, the U.S. Army Signal Center and Fort Gordon commanding general. Also supporting the parade will be a Joint Service Color Guard, a marching unit from the 15th Regimental Signal Brigade, and noncommissioned officers who will serve as judges. Foley will be the guest speaker at the Georgia War Veterans Day Ceremony at the Monument of All Wars, Broad and 4th streets. The Joint Service Color Guard and Firing Detail from Fort Gordon will take part in the ceremony. Fort Gordon's commander, color guard and band will participate in the Heroes Overlook Veterans Day Observance at 1 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Riverwalk and 10th Street. Command Sgt. Maj. Vernon Praymous, Regimental Noncommissioned Officers Academy, command sergeant major, will speak at 11 a.m. Nov. 11. at Brandon Wilde Retirement Home in Augusta. Sgt. Pat Newman, U.S. Army Signal Corps Band, will speak 9 a.m., Nov. 11 at Harlem Middle School in Harlem. First Sergeant Ronnie Brown, Regimental Noncommissioned Officer Academy, will speak 8 a.m. Nov. 12 at Evans Middle School. |
