Senior Professional Bowlers Association tournament draws top contenders
      The South Regional Seniors Professional Bowlers Association Doubles Championship drew 34 contenders for the title Oct. 24 -26 at Gordon Lanes Bowling Center. Bowlers practiced from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and were treated to dinner prior to the Pro-Am event.

Night golf tournament
      The Greater Augusta-Fort Gordon Chapter of Association of the United States Army is hosting the 7th Annual Night Golf Tournament Nov. 14 at the Gordon Lakes Golf Course. The tournament is 9 holes Captain Choice course. Cost is $40 which includes dinner, night golf supplies, after-golf refreshments, and all proceeds go the Christmas House. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m.

Augusta Toys for Tots run
      The Marines are hosting the Wildwood Park Run/Walk 8 a.m. Nov. 8 at Wildwood Park in Appling, Ga. Early registration fee is $10; the day of the race it's $15. There is a $2 fee to enter Wildwood Park. All proceeds go to the Augusta Toys for Tots program. Applications can be picked up any time up to 3 p.m. Nov.

5th annual fall challenge
      The Fort Gordon Chapter of the Ordnance Corps Association presents the 5th Annual Fall Challenge Veterans Day 10K Run and 5K Run/Walk Nov. 1 on Fort Gordon. The 10K race begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K run/walk begins at 8:15 a.m. The start and finish will be at Hazen Hall, Building 29815, located at 8th Street and Chamberlain Avenue.

Flying high
     Company B, 67th Signal Battalion's flag football coach, Calvin Morris, #93, goes airborne to block a pass during the 6 p.m. Unit Level Flag Football [Red 2008 Division] game held Oct. 22 on the quarter-mile track on post. Company A, Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center with its 7-man team steamrolled through the first half of the game taking a hardfought 13-6 lead into the mid-way rest period. Soul City Sirens Roller Derby team recruiting new members
      The Soul City Sirens Roller Derby team is looking for some new players. They are holding a roller derby boot camp from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Nov. 2, 9 and 16 and also in the evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 5, 12 and 19 at Skateland of Augusta which is located at 2451 Windsor Spring Road just off of Tobacco Road. Women age 18 and older are welcome to tryout.
