Around Town
Photo by Charmain Z. Brackett ( From left) Austin Rhodes, Brett P. Hall and Rhiannon Martin will perform in Storyland Theatre's Sleeping beauty Saturday. As the executive director of Storyland Theatre, Barbara Feldman made a commitment to show support to the nation's troops several years ago by offering Families of military service members free admission to the performing company's shows.
Storyland's next production will be a musical adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, and it will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Imperial Theatre.
It features a beautiful princess who sleeps until awakened by a kiss from her handsome prince. Along the way, there are some interesting characters such as the fairies named Flora and Fauna and a very unlikely hero who happens to be named hero.
The play is an original work by Rick Davis with an original score by Susan Reese Burgess.
"It's a lovely story," Feldman said. A valid ID will be required at the ticket window.
