Customer appreciation
     More than 200 patrons and their Families came out to Hilltop Riding Stables Sept. 27 for Customer Appreciation Day. The event which was held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. offered free trail rides, pony rides, lunch and fun on the air castle. Heidi Mohr, the manager, and her staff handed out cowboy hats and bandanas. Tribute to the Fallen
      The fourth annual "Tribute To The Fallen" will begin this year at 9 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 19, on Barton Field across from the Library on Rice Road. Navy, Marines and other military branch service members will run around Barton Field, 24 hours per day for 20 days, to honor the 1050 Navy and Marine personnel who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hilltop Riding Stable
      Children and adults alike have a chance to saddle up and ride gentle horses and ponies at the Hilltop Riding Stable, located on N. Range Road, in Building 509. Every Sunday riders can gather for the Lakeside rideouts, a two hour, guided trail ride to Wilkerson Lake. Mount up time is 1:30 p.m. The ride starts at 2 p.m.

Fishing Derby Day brings out young anglers
      More than 280 children and their Families attended Fort Gordon's Fishing Derby held Sept. 27 at Claypit Lakes. Registration kicked off at 7 a.m. The event was open to the public for children, age 3 to 15 years old. Live bait was supplied and free T-shirts were given to the first 300 kids who registered for the event.
